Remember when you could eat dinner in peace without being pestered by Anna, Julia or their kindred robots trying to sell you insurance, back braces, credit cards or vent cleaning? Ahh, the good old days. Jeni Murphy is in charge of managing the investigations into these calls on behalf of the Colorado Attorney General's office and it turns out this is a lot more involved than most people suspect. Come learn how a London telegram blossomed into a global technological epidemic and what is being done to stop it.
Jeni Murphy is a senior paralegal with the office of the Colorado Attorney General in the Consumer Protection unit. Her primary function is to manage the investigations into violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ("TCPA" or "No-Call") statutes. Those pesky sales calls you get at all hours are a lot more interesting and complex than you'd guess. Before joining the Attorney General's office, Jeni investigated Workers Compensation and Personal Injury matters. She attended the University of Denver for her undergraduate degree in English as well as law school. A fourth-generation Coloradan, Jeni loves hiking and being in the mountains but more often spends her weekends hiking up and down stairs tackling mountains of laundry. She lives in Parker with her husband and three cats.
