March 2, 2022

Drew Warner, Federal Public Defender
 will speak on

Native American Reservation Criminal Defense and Updates to Federal Immigration Standards

Join us!

This March, Drew Warner, will provide insights into Native American Reservation Criminal Defense, new updates to federal immigration policy as it pertains to ICE detainers etc., and more. We may also hear from a federal public defender investigator on relevant and timely topics as well.

About our speaker:

Drew is an experienced criminal defense and immigration lawyer, currently with the Federal Public Defenders (FPD) Office for the District of New Mexico in Las Cruces (about 1 hour north of Juarez, Mexico). At the FPD's most his cases are immigration, drug, and gun cases. Before that he was with the City of Tucson Public Defender's office, where he worked extensively in the City of Tucson’s Domestic Violence Specialty Court defending DUI clients, and with non-citizen clients to minimize the immigration consequences of criminal charges and keep them out of deportation proceedings. Previously he was with the Law Offices of Matthew Green and Victoria Trull, in the field of immigration law.

Drew received his law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law, where he served as the President of the Immigration Law Student Association, studied abroad at La Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, was the recipient of a full-tuition scholarship, and graduated with honors and a 3.51 GPA. He received undergrad at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, where he earned a dual degree in US History and Sociology.

Before becoming a lawyer, Drew lived in Mexico for a few years, taught English, and worked almost exclusively in the field of construction, in particular plumbing, heating, and energy-efficient home renovation with the Department of Energy.

In his free time Drew likes road-bike riding, weightlifting, spending time outside, hanging with his dogs, and exploring the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico.
